Want to know just how precise we are in our communications? Here’s a fun story: back in 2020, Scott served as Treasurer for a local judicial campaign challenging an incumbent Judge. In addition to handling the financials, he also handled all the campaign communications. When the March primary was postponed due to the pandemic, our opponent took the opportunity to refer us to the Board of Professional Conduct, a disciplinary panel of the Supreme Court of Ohio. He was particularly incensed about a quote from our initial press release from five months prior. He had his Court Administrator file a complaint claiming the quote violated the Judicial Canons, the rules that govern judicial candidates and judges. After a full day of hearings with attorney arguments on both sides, the Board panel unanimously determined that nothing in my press release ran afoul of the Judicial Canons or the conduct requirements of a judicial campaign. They dismissed her case as a frivolous complaint filed solely “for the purpose of obtaining an advantage for a judicial candidate.”

That’s the level of care we take in crafting each message. I knew that press release would be challenged, so I wrote it in such a way to pass review. How many people can say they’ve sat through eight hours of lawyers at the Supreme Court arguing over one sentence they wrote? Our communications can withstand even the most intense scrutiny.
